Blue H has adapted proven deepwater technology from the oil and gas industry to develop stable platforms in the sea upon which to place marinized offshore wind turbines. To a degree, the adaptation of the technology is the easy part; the challenge that Blue H has accepted is to adapt such technology at an affordable cost, commensurate with the revenue potential of each wind energy unit compared to the revenue potential of an oil rig.
In parallel, Blue H has teamed up with several component manufacturers to conduct long term research on the development of a large powerful integrated offshore wind energy converter. These wind energy converters of the future will be much lighter in weight, while still robust, more reliable and easier to service than anything that exists on the market today in order that they can provide electricity to the grid as competitively as onshore turbines. |
